Impact of dust erosion on the reduction of axial compressor efficiency of a turboshaft engine and on the stability of its operation

This paper aimed to solve the impact of operational abrasive wear on rotor blades axial compressor turboshaft engine decrease in its total compression efficiency ηCt and transition into unstable work mode (surge). process is analyzed based obtained data by operating TV3-117 helicopter engines high dust atmosphere conditions. Abrasive compressors causes mechanical damage blades, reducing their strength, changing geometry, aerodynamic properties, life whole thus entire engine. Destruction a may occur suddenly as result operation caused damaged due effect dust.
